There is a dash of mean-spiritedness in this post so fair warning, folks.

We went to a Spanish restaurant to have dinner prepared in tandem by a starred Spanish chef and a multi-awarded Japanese chef. The food was innovative, good, and comforting. The company and conversation stimulating -- ranging from the nature of coming out for a boy growing up in a traditional Catholic environment x 2, to tarot card readings and the value of just some good common sense, all the way to the unexpected but perfect pairing of brutalist architecture and nature in beach villas.

The next table was another story. A lady with pink hair -- who probably had precisely just that going for her -- having pink hair, was stolidly holding hands with a vaguely European older gentleman whose shirt was tucked so tight into his pants that the hem of the shirt was probably around the vicinity of his knees. How in love were they that they were holding both hands while staring lovingly into each others eyes and loudly judging every possible aspect of the evening -- from the slowness of the eating of the next table (us) to the fashion sense of possibly the classiest lady I’ve ever seen (“who wears all white in a restaurant?!” -- um a chef?) to the potential corked nature of the wine (it wasn’t corked).

How in love are they that when the girl was scooting by the man to get back to her seat after a bathroom run that they had to sneak in a kiss. They must be new lovers. 2nd, possibly 3rd date. They are still reciting parts of their CV to each other and bragging about recent travels. Have they slept together yet? No doubt about it.

The next day they are mentioned in the chef’s feed -- wanting to know more as to judge the pink haired girl and her lack of resto-appropriate restraint, I find huh her latest post was a one year anniversary greeting to her husband. No wonder they are so sweet, they’ve only been married a HOLD ON A SECOND THAT IS A DIFFERENT MAN. SHE JUST CELEBRATED HER ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY WITH A DIFFERENT MAN 15 DAYS AGO. WTF.

The rest of the evening, my friends and I had one of the most engaging chats filled with gossip and speculation that was more entertaining than any reality TV show I’d seen in recent months.

Entertainment sorted.
